Entrustable Professional Activity

Madina Teaching Hospital, in collaboration with the University Medical & Dental College (UMDC) and The University of Faisalabad, officially launched Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs) as a cornerstone of their house job training program starting today. This initiative under HEC’s NRPU funded project, marks a significant advancement in medical education, aiming to align training with international standards and enhance the quality of healthcare in Pakistan.

The program commenced with a detailed workshop for all house officers, led by Dr Komal Atta, Director of Medical Education, UMDC. Dr. Komal in her lecture, highlighted the pivotal role of trust in the doctor-patient relationship, emphasizing that trust is the foundation upon which all medical practice is built. She explained how this training would enable doctors to effectively serve in Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centers (RHCs), ultimately contributing to the elevation of medical standards across the country. A notable highlight of the event was an online session with Prof. Dr. Olle ten Cate from the Netherlands, a leading expert in medical education. His session provided valuable international perspectives on the implementation and significance of EPAs, further enriching the learning experience for the house officers.
